With the Christmas season upon us, it’s time to see why Saskatoon makes the perfect holiday destination for those seeking some R&R and fun. Whether you need to do some last-minute shopping or hope to catch a game or concert, enjoy all the season has to offer by checking out these 5 Saskatoon tourism holiday events from one of the best hotels in Saskatoon — the Comfort Suites, of course!

1. Be Enchanted by Thousands of Sparkling Lights

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the BPH Enchanted Forest Holiday Light Tour at Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park is one of the top events in December and a sight to behold. Open evenings from 5:30 -10 p.m. every day (including Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s) until Jan. 4, the drive-through tour is a spectacle of music and lights. Tune into your radio and watch the show unfold. Get your express car passes for $5 off at any Shoppers Drug Mart or Coop Grocery and Gas Bar in Saskatoon or purchase them at the gate.

2. Board the Magical Christmas Express

Located just an hour northeast from our accommodations in Saskatoon, SK, the Wheatland Express Excursion Train turns into the Magical Holiday Express as it travels between the towns of Wakaw to Cudworth. Enjoy the wintry holiday magic with carolling, cookies and cocoa while listening to a live storyteller. Santa may even hop on board. Catch the train Dec. 8, 9, 15 and 16. Kids are encouraged to wear their cozy PJs and bring their letters for Santa. Advance reservations are required.

3. Meet Santa at the Saskatoon Farmers’ Market

Entertain your kids and do your Christmas shopping at the same time at this downtown institution. Open year round, the indoor farmers’ market is welcoming Santa, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pick up some stocking stuffers, grab a bite at one of the Market Square restaurants, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the holidays.

Make a night of it with one of the best Saskatoon hotel deals with our Family Fun package, which includes one night’s accommodation in our Double Queen or King Suite, 2 adult and 2 kid’s movie passes, 2 Medium Pizzas and a 2 litre pop, and complimentary hot breakfast buffet the next morning.

4. Enter Wonderland at SaskTel Centre

Our Saskatoon hotel near SaskTel Centre is the place to be in December. Avoid traffic and parking by walking over to Saskatoon’s largest indoor venue to see Cirque Musica Holiday’s presentation of Wonderland, Dec. 17. This concert, perfect for the whole family, features circus performers and a full symphony orchestra.

5. Cheer on the Blades

For those looking for an escape from the holidays, you can still catch a few home games with our very own WHL team, the Saskatoon Blades at SaskTel Centre.

They play the Prince Albert Raiders Dec. 9 and 27, the Edmonton Oil Kings Dec. 11, and the Brandon Wheat Kings Dec. 14.
